Ok I had surgery on March 29,2004 I have had no complications. But I get paranoid sometimes how would I know if I have a leak now? I'm just wondering, I don't think I have one but I wanted to know.... Thanks, Michelle

Dr Duncan says that after about 2 weeks that it is extremely rare to have a leak. He also said he hasn't seen one long term post-op. But the symptoms of a leak are rapid heart beat, trouble breathing and fever. Are you feeling ill? Tonya

No just nervous I guess. I feel fine buy I found out today that a friend of a friend passed away and she also had gastric bypass a long time ago. They dont know why she passed but I was like omg and started freaking out. I just worry alot. Thanks for the info, Michelle

Dr. Proctor has also said that it is very rare for a patient to develope a late leak. I know how it feels to worry about something that may not be a problem, it will drive you crazy! You have every right to be concerned about it, I would just have regular check up's with the doctor. It's said that if someone has a leak, they will definitely know (sick symptoms). I hope that we've reassured you. God Bless, Tiffany.

I had a leak right after surgery and trust me, if it isn't managed then you will know because it will hurt!
