if diabetes can cause hearing loss???? I have realized over the past couple of days that I have significant hearing loss in one ear. I was diagnosed with diabetes in October and was curious if this is related. Thanks for your input.... Shree

Hi again Shree. A friend of mine is also a diabetic. She suggested that you go to your Ear-Nose and Throat doc and ask to be checked for Menier's Disease. Her husband developed this and no one knew it for 4 years. I have provided a link for you to check out some of the things about it. I hope this helps. My prayers are with you. Let me know if you need anything. http://hit.getyourdatahere.com/apps/eps/eps.cgi?s=Menier's+Disease&nnreq=4913ed0f828cf96a11a37fab7d1dc9e7&prt=NN100 Hugs, Debra =^..^=

Shree, I'm not aware of that connection, though, it certainly could be seasonal allergies. Sinus trouble, stopped up ears, etc. are bothing lots of folks this month, including me. Ear, Nose, Throat man sounds best to me. Your insurance will cover trips to audiologist as well, course, it pays for them to tell you that's you're "half deaf" LIKE ME...but will NOT pay for hearing aids! How grand....sorta like if they said You're leg's broken according to X-ray, but no cast! lol Keep us posted.

You know Shree...I've never been diagnosed with diabetes, but I have had some hearing loss for a while now...however, since surgery, I have had a ringing in my left ear...some days really bad... I have been to the ENT and the only thing they can figure is there may have been meds in the anesthesia that damaged the nerve in my ear. I would need a hearing aid to correct my problem, but as Joyce said, they will not pay for the darn thing and it runs around $2000! So...you can I can sit together, and learn sign language and run around saying "HUH?" a lot!!! Take care girl...I hope it's just an allergy or something and can be fixed easily! -Tami
