I am officially on hernia #6, it maybe more, but they never really know how many you have until they open you up. For full disclosure, when I had my Gastric Bypass, they did my first hernia repair then, and at that time there were 2. Symptoms????? Well, I have been pretty luck, I have yet to have severe pain. Mostly for me I get discomfort in a specific area when I excert any pressure on my abdomen. (picking up one of my boys, pushing a full shopping cart, ect....Also when I bend over, like when I am cleaning the bathroom, I feel "things moving" inside of me. I know it sounds really wierd, but it is just the intestine. The most obvious symptom for me, is to lay down on a flat hard surface(the floor) oh yeah you need to have someone with you, and you have them put there hands on your abdomen while you raise only your feet about 8 inches..This will usually excert the pressure so that you can feel if you have a bulge. I would not suggest doing this more than once, because it may be quite sore after awhile. By the way, my doctor was the one that told me that trick. Before you sit back up you should rub the buldge a bit so that it goes back into place. If all else fails, just go to the doctor. I hope that I have helped and not freaked you out! Cathy Martin

I'm not freaked out, I just know my parinoia has some validity now. Everytime I lift my arms above my head I feel this pain, when I am pushing the grocery cart or reach for items I feel this pain. It's not bad enough for medication but it's there, I even feel a budge every now and then like a babies feet poking. (The only description I could come up with). I am going to the Dr. in the morning. So I will post the results then. Oh yeah, did I do this to myself? I surely don't want the doctor to accuse me of doing something I shouldn't have been doing. (Not that he would). J.

Does everyone get a hernia? I hope that you don't get one, I haven't had the surgery yet, so I don't have an answer to your question. I hope that your feeling okay. Keep us posted. God Bless, Tiffany.

Thanks Tiffany. After speaking with my mom she told me she had 4 henias after having some other abdominal surgery, then she had surgery to repair the hernias and how painful it was. I am so not looking forward to that if it's the case. I hope I've only pulled a muscle or something. I will keep you posted and you do the same. J
