Well friends, I went to the tricare office to try and get a new doctor, after my last episode with the very ignorant doctor I had. The tricare office says that I have to fill out some papers and wait to get approved to see another doctor (that is wls friendly). The soonest I will beable to make an appointment with a different doctor (if I get approved -to change doctors) will be January 1. I am so upset. I really wanted to get the ball rolling next month so I can look to having my surgery in late February, early March. Everywhere I have turned I have gotten a slammed door (except here ) . I really want to get this surgery done, I'm 324 pounds and gaining. If anyone has any advice please share. Thank you and as always God Bless, Tiffany PS- My insurance is tricare- if anyone from Valdosta know's a doctor that I can see that is wls friendly.

Hi Tiffany, I am sorry to hear about all the trouble you are having. If you have the Tricare-Champus insurance, my doctor takes that. If you find you can change let me know. It would be a 5 hour ride up here, but he is a great doctor. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hugs, Debra =^..^=

Tiffany, I am so sorry for your pain. Please keep in mind this takes time. I was working on my surgery at about the same time as you last year, and had hopes of having my surgery in February or March. As it turned out, I finally got approval on May 28th, and a surgery date of July 13th. It seems like forever, and yes, I DID gain weight, even though I knew I shouldn't. It is a very stressful and trying time. Keep praying, keep calm, and be diligent. I hope things move along quickly for you. Best regards, Tami

Tiffany, I also have Tricare and it does take about a month for the PCP change to go through. I don't understand why it takes so long, but we do have a new servicer for the southeast and things don't seem to be going as smoothly as they used to. Are you letting Tricare select a PCP for you? My hubby and I each selected our own and submitted it to Tricare for approval. I know you are anxious to have the surgery done, but you need to make sure that your are taking the right steps in having this done. Including all the pre-testing and specialist visits. This is a major surgery and you need to make sure that your are well informed of what is going to happen to your body. There are dozens of different types of WLS, that is why I tell everyone to research, research and research some more when choosing the type of surgery you want to have. You have to remember that it is a total lifestyle change. You need to make sure you are committed to the outcome. Oh-oh, on my soapbox again! Either way, it isn't too realistic to accompli**** in 3 months from start to finish. Hang in there, your time will come. Tricare is very good about approving the surgery. If you are going to have it done in the Atlanta area, Tricare referred me to Dr. Appel. Patti
