ANGEL NEEDED AROUND COLUMBUS, GA
I haven't posted in awhile but things have been going rough here. After 2 denials, I was FINALLY approved but have had my surgery cancelled TWO times!!!
I'm a nurse, so I fully understand problems with equipment and trying to meet docs needs; however, after doing a few surgeries, my doc has decided he can't work without a specific type of sutures which will cost the hospital $7,000 more. Apparently, when he set up this practice, he contracted with the hospital for specific supplies and this new suture is a non-contracted item.
And...because I work at the hospital and my hospital expenses are not chargable to me (employee benefit), the hospital will not re-coop the cost and is refusing the purchase these additional equipment.
The doc is saying he won't do the surgery withouth the new equipment and the hospital is saying they aren't buying it!!! So, basically, me and my emotions are being pulled apart.
I've worked so hard to get here and have done EVERYTHING everyone has asked of me....and still it's not enough!!
I desperately need some angels to get me through this.
Cindy

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I'm in the West Point GA area. I would suggest that you contact your hospital administrator. If this physician is on staff there and has operating room privledges, then the hospital should supply whatever the doc needs to effectively perform his duty. If the hospital still bucks, contact the hospitals attorney (I'm sure they have one) and ask if there is anyway this can be negotiated so that you the patient (not you the employee) gets the best possible care. This is a biggy in ethics...basically cost or care?????? Chin up and forge forward. Luck to you in your progress!
Hi Cindy,
I don't live in Columbus, but I do live about 45 miles east of there. I'm in a small town known as Mauk. I'm sure you know where it is. LOL Teasing!
Really, do you know where Butler is? I would be happy to talk with you anytime you want. You can email me or if you use yahoo or aol I have those instant messengers. Let me know. I feel so bad for you. I am also in limbo. Waiting for my approval. I am finding out that the folks that work in the coordination dept at Emory Bariatrics aren't very prompt in their daily work. If it weren't for the fact that I love Dr. Khaitan and I need a doctor that takes medicare, I would change. Does your doctor take it? Where is he located? I will pray that you find a resolution to your problem soon. That is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard lately. Take care!!
HUGGSSS!!!
