I don't know about Dr. Champion, but my doctor will not do the surgery unless you quit.

Most doctors want you to stop a while before your surgery so that your lungs can clear up a little.I know that not all demand it but most do. I don't know Dr. Champion so I can't say about him. You could always call his ofice and ask. Hugs, Derba =^..^=

I had doctor Champion and he did not require me to quit smoking. Now i only smoke between 1 to 8 cigs a day. If you have any other questions about him and his process feel free to ask. Good Luck. Robin

Just my opinion...but if you are going through a drastic surgery to make your life better and to get thin and HEALTHY...wouldn't you want to quit smoking? My mom smoked for 45 years...luckily she quit 3 years ago, but still has terrible side effects/emphazima. Please...think about making a TOTAL lifestyle change-your family will probably love you for it More importantly...your body will love you for it! Sherry

Hi Shelley. Dr. Williams will be doing my surgery on 19 Nov. He is Dr Champion's partner. I asked about the smoking and was told the same thing you were. But they also said no smoking after being admitted to the hospital. Once you're released, it's up to you. But of course they're going to say it's not good to smoke at all. Good luck on your surgery and God be with you.
