You won't believe this......
As many of you might know (as I post often), that I am in a real crunch to get approved by insurance and have my surgery this year as my insurance won't cover WLS next year...and the last surgery slot that is available is Dec 14 due to holiday schedules.
Anyway, I went to get my final blood test done so that my package can be resent to insurance...It was a TSH test and we were just re-testing it because the insurance co requires the test to be done within the last 3 months...
OK, you are not going to believe this...it came back ABNORMAL!!! My PCP and I were both shocked! I have NEVER, EVER had an abnormal thyroid test...it was normal in January and again in March....
Now, I'm being sent to an endocrinologist because my TSH and my T-4 are both significantly out of whack!!! My PCP is trying to get me an appointment ASAP because she knows the time constraints that I'm under.
So, now I've faxed my the bad news to my surgeon and I'm waiting to hear the coordinator's take on it to see if this might cause me to miss my small window of opportunity...
I also have to wonder if God is trying to tell me something? It's been one obstacle after another and some really bizarre things like this that have come out of nowhere. I'm a spiritual person and I've been praying about whether this is something I should do or if God is trying to tell me something...I've been praying that he let me know one way or the other...some sign...I have to wonder, is this another sign?
Just wondering if anyone else out there had any issues with TSH/T4 levels in your WLS adventures?
Thanks for listening!

I did Chris. My pcp's tests showed that mine we out of whact when I originally went in about my surgery information in February and they came back abnormal. I did wind up having to go to an Endo and he determined that the fluctuation wasn't out of "normal" range so I was cleared and ready to have surgery within days of his clearance.
TSH and T4 Levels fluctuate with a woman's "monthly" cycle. Did your PCP take into consideration this information when he read your results? The endo determined that that was what was making mine "off".
Good luck to you...if you need a good Endo mine's in Riverdale - but he's FANTASTIC.....let me know!
