Bryant Jackson's status :'(

The date of my first consultation with Dr. D, I met a young man named Bryant. We sat in Dr. D's office, and talked over how we had decided on the gastric bypass procedure in hopes of gaining health, fitness, and better lives for ourselves and our love ones. Most of you embarking upon this journey of health, fitness and a mission to be normal didn't elect this procedure as a fix. For most of us, we invested many restless nights, tears, years of researching, everything from the surgeons, to the dieticians. Instantly Bryant and I shared this common bond that so many of us share; a network of support from those who can identify with our private struggles. We exchanged our email addresses and vowed to keep up with one another's journey and we did. Today I received a heartbreaking email from Bryant's frat brother, advising that Bryant had passed over the weekend. Bryant adored his family, fraternity/brothers, and loved the lord. He was young, smart, full life and a good friend. He will be truly missed. Below is the email if you wish to express your condolences. First of all, I would like to inform everyone that's reading this that this is a friend of Bryant whose sending this email. My name is Stephen Culver (Steve) and apologize if this email catches you off guard, especially if you're just finding out this information for the first time. Bryant passed away early Saturday morniing (Oct. 30) and is now resting peacfully. This event was and still is shocking to EVERYONE and really hard to except at this moment. However, I wlll leave you with information that has been provided. I only thought that it would be fair to inform as many people possible who knew Bryant. Did he die as a result of surgery? I could not tell from your note whether or not he'd had surgery yet? THanks, Chris

I am so sorry to hear about Bryant's death. Did he pass away from complications from WLS surgery? I'm here if you need to talk. Hugs, Tonya

My thoughts and prayers go out to Bryant's family and friends. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I checked Bryant's profile and it appears that he underwent his surgery in late Sept. Debbie J Duncan patient 01-14-02 lap-rny 01-15-02 leak repair surgery (non smoker, non steroid taker) 01-29-02 surgery to see if I had another leak, NO thank goodness SEVERE COMPLICATIONS 45 days in ICU, 33 days kept alive via ventilator 30 days in a rehab hospital, had to learn to walk again Now, one happy girl........LUCKY to be alive

Bryant and I e-mailed a few times regarding how we were doing since surgery because his date was 5 days after mine. He seemed to be a very sweet person and I am so sad that he is gone. How do we get this posted on the memorial page and how do you sign a guestbook for our condolences for his family? Never set one of these up. I just want everyone to know what a great person I thought he was. Anyone have anymore information on how he died? Just curious. He will be missed by his family here at OH. Soooo sad!

I'm sorry to hear about Bryant. I read his profile and he seems like a very friendly, outgoing and caring person...my prayers and sympathy goes out to his family and friends. It did not sound like he was having complications...do you know what happened to him that caused him to pass away? Thanks, Chris S

My heart is broken for this dear young man's family. From his profile, it was clear that he was a fine young man who was loved by many. It is my prayer that his friends and loved ones find that peace that passes understanding in this difficult time. Love, Becky
