OK guys, I'll be 3 weeks post-op on Wednesday and I still have NO ENERGY! I went to Sunday School, Church and then out to lunch with my family yesterday and when I got home I was so tired I slept 3 hours. I'm not talking a cat nap....I'm talking "drooling on the pillow - dead to the world" sleep. This is my last week of medical leave but I am considering taking 1 more week to help me get my strength back. I am getting out and walking and doing things with my family but I just get so stinking tired. I am taking my vitamins too....could I need a B12 shot rather than just the pills I'm taking? Is this normal or am I just being a baby? Robin

How much protein are you getting daily? How much water intake do you have daily? I have found my energy level can be directly related to these two things and usually it is my protein intake.

I was going to say what Tracy said......Those two things effect me completely. If I get really tired I find something with a good amount of protein in it and it ususally will help me. If I can't do the protein (because most of the time it dosen't agree with me) I drink excess water!.......of course I don't think I drink enough!...... I'd call my doctor just to see if there is anything else you should be doing to help increase your evergy level. Please keep us posted of your progress!!! You're in my prayers!

Robin, It's pretty normal to get worn out still. You had some complications also. I'd say that in the next week you should start seeing an improvement in your energy level. I went back to work at 2.5 weeks out and had to rest in the afternoon. It took a good 3-4 weeks before I felt normal. Hang in there gal! Hugs, Tonya

I honestly didn't get most of my real energy bac****il about 3 months out. You just under went major surgery that is compared to open heart surgery, so you've got to give your body some time to recoup, it will get better. Amy

Take another week, Robin! You just had surgery, Girlfriend! I'll let you in on a little secret. At almost five months out, I am still going to bed at 9:00. It will take a little time for your body to adjust to this change. Will it be worth it? You betcha! Hugs!!! Becky

Robin, I think all post ops go through this phase. I took a month off work, and for the first 3 weeks I was taking a nap every day. I hope you feel better. Ms.Thang
