I just got home from visiting Virginia at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta GA. She was still in ICU but doing better. She was taken off the ventilator (sp?) on friday. She has not been able to get up as of yet. I asked if she was able to sit in a chair and was told that there were none in the ICU that would hold her. They can't bring them there due to the bariatric chairs need to stay in the baritric area. I then asked what it would take to get her out of ICU and was told by a nurse that if a bed became available she should be able to be in a room today. When she gets in a room she will then be able to do more as in walking and sitting up. Her wound is still open due to her second surgery. To update those who don't know, Virginia had lap. RNY on 10/18/2004 and due to her tissue being very soft they had to double, triple and quadruple some of her stitches and she also had a leak and had it repaired at that time. She was put on a ventilator and put in ICU and sedated. On wed she was taken in to emergency surgery to repair a blockage. She had to be opened up for this surgery and was unable to be completely closed. She has packing. Just please pray for her and her family and emails are always welcome. She was talking and knows she needs to get up and walk and wants to. Hey Tina, thank you for the update. I haven't called her daughter in a few days. But her surgery was 9/18/04. I am so glad you got to go by and see her. I am praying she will get in a room soon and can start her recovery. Thank you again. Hugs, Debra =^..^=

I'm sorry Tina, I was thinking the surgery was last month. Please forgive my mistake. She has my prayers, either way. Hugs, Debra =^..^=
