The Swann - How Shameful
I hve been watching the TV show the Swann and think it's absolutely shameful...for those of you who have never seen it...they take women and give them makeovers...many have had horrible scars, problems with excess skin, dental issues, and some are overweight...
They take some very tough cases and give them surgery, dental implants, hair/makeup and diet changes...and with VERY dramatic results, these women become so beautiful afterward that it's astonishing...that is not the part that I think is so shameful.
The shameful part is that after all their hardwork - they actually put them in a competition against each other!!! Isn't that just like society? We can't be happy for these women but now that they are pretty they get thrown right into the fire...as if they are still nothing but their looks...Good Looks or Bad Looks? I thought the idea was to help them to build their self-esteem not add to their insecurities that they came to the show with when they considered themselves ugly.
How very, very shameful!
I agree with you, I just finished watching the show, and its sad how they make these ladies feel. After all the hard work and time away from there families only one lady can go on to the next round. doesnt that make the lady left out that she didnt do as good . What does that do for her self esteem

I guess I always have to be the odd one out right. HA HA. I watched that show last season and I watched last night. I think the whole idea behind the pageant is to make their makeovers become realities for those girls and give them a chance to do something they would have never dreamed doing before, but now they are able to. Those girls last season seemed to bond with each other and really seemed to me that the pageant boosted their self-esteem and made the new person they were a "hit in the face" reality for them. I can see your point of view also, but I just thoroughly enjoyed the show.*S*
