I didn't want to post this on the main board, cause you know how they can jump on you for asking questions they consider "elementary". But I need to know from ya'll how you get in all your protein and water? I am really struggling with this. I took the first step today by getting in 32oz of water, I usually don't even get in that much. I've written out a schedule I'm going to post here in my cube to remind me to drink and take my calcium after lunch. As for protein, a lot of the time heavy protein items are also loaded with fat, and on some days (being without a gallbladder) that just doesn't work for me. I know it's important to my health, which is why I'm asking. I have a hard time keeping track with how many grams I've taken in. Any suggestions on good snacks to keep at work, or good lunches to bring? I'm only three months out, but I know this time period establishes the pattern for the road ahead, and I don't want to jeopadize my health. Help guys! Kelle

Hi Kelle, No question is ever silly. We are always here for you. Do you know that you can drink crystal light and it counts as your water intake? Also you can get fruit punch flavor protein from gnc to add to you water and this does 2 in 1. God Bless Your Journey, Sheila -95#

Hi Kelle, I know it is hard to get it all in. What I do for the protein part is I get the unflavored Unjury and mix it in a drink in a bottle and that way I am getting both at the same time. I also mix it in whith whatever food I am eating. I keep a bottle of water with me at all times and am constantly sipping it. I am finally up to about 50 ozs of liquid a day now. Not easy but am forcing myself to. If you need anyhting just let me know. I hope I have helped a little bit. Hugs, Debra =^..^=

One bottle of Isopure Zero Carb Protein drink (in glass bottles) comes in many flavors. One bottle is 20oz and has 40g of protein. Hood CarbCountdown chocolate milk has 12g protein in only 8oz. Yummy with a couple ice cubes. Eggs contain the highest quality protein you can buy. Egg protein has just the right mix of essential amino acids needed by humans to build tissues. In addition, eggs have thirteen essential vitamins and minerals Eggs contain the highest quality food protein known. It is second only to mother's milk for human nutrition. Egg yolk is the major source of the egg's vitamins and minerals. A large egg contains only 75 calories and 5 grams of fat. Egg yolks are one of the few foods that naturally contain Vitamin D. Eggs have no vitamin C because the chick can produce it from food it eats. Protein 6.25g in a large egg. Reduced fat cheese are a good source of protein: american cheese, string cheese, cottage cheese. But you highest density of protein to volume, I think, are the protein drinks. Kelle, I know it's hard to get in everything but for the water you might want to try Propel water. I would try the Peach, Kiwi Strawberry, Tropical or Berry. They helped me get the water down. I suggested this to my sister who just had surgery 2 weeks ago and it has really helped her. Regular water doesn't taste right because of the metalic taste you have that first few months. Also, if you can eat yogart you can put the unjury protein in that and kinda up your protein that way and it tastes good. Don't be too hard on yourself...do something to make you feel good today! Kelle, I can't tell you how glad I am you asked this! I am pre-op at the moment and have 24 days left until my surgery date. However, I grow increasingly concerned on how I will get all the protein supplement I will need on a daily basis. My surgeon requires his patients to be on clear liquids only for the first three weeks, then thicker liquids only the following three weeks before gradually adding semi-solid or solid foods. I am just really anxious to know what types of clear liquids have the highest content of protein, as well as what kind of vitamins others take. I know they have to be liquid..but are they sugar free? Thanks again for asking, Kelle.

Hey Kelle!!! I struggle too. I always carry a bottle of water or propel with me and sip, sip, sip ALL day long. I use the Nectar protein drink so I kill two birds with one stone...water & protein. I rely heavily on protein drinks still and according to my Surgeon that is ok with him. SO I guess the key is...find something you like to drink and sip, sip, sip all day long. As for protein rich foods, here are some that I include in my diet: -Shrimp(I buy a big bag of frozen shrimp w/ resealable bag from Kroger and take few out at a time) -Cottage Cheese- low fat, small curd ( 1/2C =13g protein) -Eggs (boiled) -Tuna pouches- I prefer the albacore -Yogurt- Danon carb control- 5g protein -grilled chicken -Beef Jerkey for snacks Hope this helps Tonya
