HELP!!!
Martha,
What a bummer! I hope you find a new surgeon soon.
I was pleased with Peachtree Bariatrics. Dr. Johnson actually did my surgery - not Dr. Duncan. However, during those 2 or 3 days I was having my complications (dehydration and UTI) I saw both Dr. Ducan and Dr. Hobson. Both came to my room. I also saw the resident about twice a day along with the PA from Peachtree. Now that I think about it, Dr. Fields came by as well. Yesterday one of the PA's called here to just check on me. So overall, it is a team approach but I felt I got very thorough care.
It's all about choosing a surgeon/practice that you feel comfortable with. I know there are enough folks here to help guide you along your search that you will make the right decision.
Let me know what you decide!
Robin
Hi Martha,
I'm just guessing you mean Dr. Daniel Smith with Emory? I too had a really hard time dealing with his office staff...don't know if they are overworked, underpaid or just don't care...
I was denied and they offered no help to try to get me approved...they said it was up to me...that's when I started to really worry about aftercare and if I would be on my own then too.
So, I switched to Dr. Christopher Hart and North Fulton Bariatrics....His office is in Suwanee...which I thought was really far away from me...turns out it's actually near Duluth/Alpharetta area and closer to me than Emory!!
Let me tell you, I gained a lot by switching...I gained support groups (2), an unlimited follow up with an exercise physiologist and their dietician....also I became an actual person instead of the "next" patient....it was an incredibly different experience I don't feel like "cattle" anymore....I feel like a real person who has made a personal relationship with my new Doctor's office...
Good Luck to you in your search!
