I am 2 weeks post-op and am not getting in my protein. I can not seem to find one that I can stomach. The ones I have tried make me throw up . I even tried the ProStat 64 where I only have to drink 4 oz a day but I can not even handle that. Any one have any suggestions on how I can get my protein in???? I am so exhausted and have no energy and my doctor says it is due to lack of protein. Please any help is appreciated. I feel like I am failing already due to not being able to handle the protein drinks!

Angel, I never had good luck with protein and please remember this early out it's practically hard on anyone to get all their protein in. So don't get discouraged. Basically for me because my surgeon's plan allowed it, I had milk (skim) and carnation instant breakfast, granted it's not the highest in protein, that's what got me thru and if I didn't have carnation instant breakfast I'd just have milk alone, I've also heard from other people that Carb Count milk is pretty good. Anyhow count me on the list that never did the protein drinks, I never found one I could handle. Amy

lack of protein for 2 weeks wont make you tired. Thats the major surgery speaking. Everyone goes through it. I can't do protein very well, either. I can handle the Nectar fuzzy navel and the rest of the time I eat pork rinds, peanuts,, beef jerky, or SF carnation instant breakfast.

The only one I really like is unjury. The chocolate mixed with 1% milk or the unflavored mixed with anything. Doesn't smell and taste good plus a single scoop is 20g of protein. JMHO. Best wishes, hugs and prayers, Theresa

2 weeks out...Hon, NOTHING tasted great to me at that point except frozen sugar free popsicles. I agree, you're tired because you've had surgery and been put to sleep and your body hasn't waked up yet. Hang in there...Do NOT feel like a failure....It's too early to get in all you need yet. You know folks survive days without anything but liquid! You're a survivor! It'll all get better. I personally like Carb Solutions chocolate flavored drink. When I do a protein I do it. I'ts like 20 grams of protein I think...not the highest out there but palatable. Good luck! just keep you liquids going...frozen popsicles, etc.

Angel, I agree that your feeling tired is from the surgery and try not to worry about getting all of your protein yet. I am 2 months out and the only protein drink I can drink is Nectar. I like the Apple and Fuzzy Naval flavors especially since I do not like sweet tasting. Just concentrate on getting your fluids in so that you will not dehydrate and get plenty of rest. The other will come in time. God Bless You. Sincerely, Becky Stanford

Hi Angel, I like UNJURY. I use the chocolate and mix it with skim milk...it's just like chocolate milk! I drink it mostly for breakfast.

I'm out 2 weeks too. I got all sorts of protein drinks before surgery and so far this is what I think of them. I was told to try the unflavored/tasteless whey protein. It doesn't effect anything I've tasted so I've started adding it to foods. I usually have cream of wheat with mashed banana and protein powder. Its good and has protein, iron and your fruit. I've added it to sugar free/fat free pudding and its good there. I'm trying to get as much in normal sources. Peanut butter is good. Chicken doesn't agree very well yet but I add a little to cottage cheese and I tolorate it there, include protein powder there. I'm not sure how much protein total I get a day but as long as I don't get symptoms of low protein I'm going to continue with the tasteless powder and natural proteins.
