Prayers needed please(long)
Hi Everyone,
I think that I have always tried to be optimistic about most things, but after what I just found out, I am about ready to give up.
My husband works in Aviation. He has done this since the early 90's. Aviation has never been a secure thing, you tend to move alot. (he is a mechanic) Back in the summer of 2001, he got his dream job working for Continental Airlines. You see when you are a mehanic you pay your dues working on the little planes, and then you move up to the big ones, where the pay is great and then you can retire eventually. Then 9/11 happend.....He was laid off in October, and we were devasted financially. No one was hiring. Don't get me wrong, I am one of the lucky ones, I didn't lose my husband like so many others did, and I thank God every day for that. We were one of the 9/11 statistics, but we were largely overlooked (with just cause).
It has taken since that time to recover. He eventually got a job in Cleveland Ohio, and he worked there for 2 years, then we came here. He was given a chance to run his own shop, which he has done with alot of success. The company that he works for is quite large, and somewhere in their corporate office in Kansas, they decided to sign a contract with some other company to do the work that my husband does. His shop will be closing soon. In the meantime, they told him that he needs to cut all of his overtime. Overtime for us like so many others, is how we survive and how I am able to stay at home full time with my kids.
Please, Please pray for my family that we can get through this. I honestly don't know what we are going to do. I know that my husband can get another job, but starting over is so hard. Is it too much to ask for a little security? I am sorry that this is so long, but I just didn't know what else to do.

Hi Cathy...Im browsing on the board while I'm having my lunch at work since I had surgery 8/9/04. I was so touched by your plea. Please know that I will petition God to send his comforter to wrap his wings around you and yours to get you through this "storm" you've been placed in again. You can certainly relate to those folks down in Florida, I bet. We all just have to hold on to the idea that scripture speaks of..."If God feeds the sparrows..." He's gonna take care of you, child...and yours. I believe that. Hang tight. May God bless.
