Flu Vaccine availability...???
We live in Athens, GA and both my husband and I are considered to be in the high-risk category. I am not so worried about myself as I am my husband because he is a heart patient. However, this year..as everyone probably already knows, there is a dire shortage! I have called the doctor's office, every pharmacy in town, both hospitals, and the Health Department and no one has it, nor expects it in.
We don't mind driving out of town if we have to, in order for my husband, at least, to obtain the vaccine. So, would anyone know of an availability in their area(s)?
Thanks so much in advance.
Thanks, Shree...I called both Winder and Danielsville branches of the Medicine Shoppe, and same story...neither have it nor expect it in. This is going to be a REALLY serious problem, I can tell!
I tried calling the CDC (Atlanta) hotline for flu vaccine, but all I get is a recording, saying "Due to the high call volume, we cannot help you at this time..please try you call again, later." Grrrr! So, I will keep trying to get in touch with them, as I figure ..if anyone can advise where to obtain it, THEY can, right? Man! I have NEVER seen such a crisis as this with that vaccine!
I am surprised your husband's doctor does not have any. Our church gave them this past Sunday to anyone who wanted one. That was in South Georgia though. Surely you can find them someplace. I think they are reserving them for high risk and older people. Did you tell these places that your husband is high risk?
Yes, thanks...I absolutely made it clear up front that we are both senior citizens, high risk and that my husband is a heart patient. It made no difference. We both see physicians with the same practice and always, every year we get our shots as soon as they are made available there. But, this year, I was told that they do not have them, and will not be getting them. Even high risk and older people are going to be out of luck, it looks like, this year. But I do not intend to give up.
