I have been a little down and depressed since I was denied, but I'm trying to complete my 6 month supervised diet requirement by my PCP and hopefully I will be joining all you wonderful people on the losing side. To all the people that has been approved or have had surgery good luck and keep up the good work. I have been a lurker and not posting but I have been keeping up with you guys and what a wonderful job you guys are doing. Shon

Shon, good to see you aren't giving up. Come on and join in on the things going on here. It will help with the depression or we can all email you goofy things and that will help too. If you need anything at all just let me know. I am here for you and so is everyone else. Hugs, Debra

Hey Shon, I just had my open RNY 13 days ago. It took a year to get it. And I thought I'd be really quick since I only have Medicare. Well, after spending 6 months with one surgeon then being told he wouldn't do it (he's since closed his practice and left town) I ended up with a surgeon who has 18 years experience doing WLS. He's very experienced, does things that the more I think about them the better I like them, including a G-tube and Davol drain. It was a long year but I'm better for it. I was very educated and prepared when I entered the OR (except for my after surgery support). So try to enjoy to journey to your new life, it's full of growth opportunities. Blessings and Peace, Marrilee open RNY, 9/30/04, DrAppel

Shon, I am sorry that you have been depressed since your denial, I know how that is. Keep your head up and never give up hope. I take it that after the diet, they will reevaluate your need for surgery? How much longer do you have to go? Keep up the good work!! Take Care, Cathy Martin

Thanks everyone for the words of widsom. That's why I come here because you guys always make me feel so much better. My 6 months will be up in December but whether or not I will get a date before 2005 is the big question, since Aetna will no longer cover WLS unless my employer chooses to pay extra for the insurance and no ones knows as of yet, if they will cover WLS or not. So I'm just praying this will happen for me soon. This would be the best X-mas gift I ever got if I get approved before 2005. Shon
