SECRET PAL SUGGESTIONS
I wanted to share something with you about the secret pal program I'm in. I think these are great ideas.
Hi everybody...I hope this post finds you all very happy and healthy. I've gotten a lot of emails from people asking for suggestions on what to do for their Secret Pals...sooooo I decided to just put a little list of suggestions together so that everyone might find something that inspires them! Feel free to add any of your own suggestions or ask questions regarding Secret Pals....I'll do my best to help
1. Get an alternative email using some combination with Secret Pal or the like and send them ecards online...or supportive personal emails. That way you can reach them online and NOT give away who you are!
2. I think we ALL love to get mail...so sending a paper card once a month is a very thoughtful thing to do...and inexpensive! Most dollar stores have 4 for a $ or something similar so you can send one for hardly anything!
3. Obviously, it is a nice thing, since we are all WLS patients or will be soon...to pay attention to surgery anniversaries...or when your SP has reached a significant milestone. A card on their anniversary...or a small gift to celebrate a milestone (such as reaching the century mark or goal) would be a very thoughtful thing to do. For instance, if your SP just reached their century mark...perhaps send them 100 of something (dollars would be great j/k).
4. Again, since we are all WLS patients or will be, there are so many things we can send that are related. Let's say you find a great protien drink...maybe send them a sample of it for them to try. Or maybe you find some kind of inexpensive contraption that makes your life as a post or pre-opper easier...then maybe you could think of them as well.
5. It's always nice to be thought of on holidays...and there are many coming up. so there are always inexpensive ways to be thoughtful on holidays...perhaps a card..a small gift...you know they are available ANYWHERE you go...i
6. If your SP is married...it would be nice to send them something on their anniversary....or maybe send something small for their children....
7. Birthdays...well we all like to receive things on our birthdays...maybe choose something small based on the things they said they liked...gag gifts can be fun too if you think your SP would enjoy that sort of thing....
8. Just for the heck of it...maybe you see something you thought they'd like...or maybe you see a post of theirs where they've been upset or having a hard time. This is all about support...and we are all great people...so I think you know what to do =)
I'll stop now....feel free to add your own suggestions...this is just all about making someone feel supported and special. There are a million inexpensive ways to do this..just use your imagination
PS- when you make your new email address, don't use your real name as the name the recipient will see...use something like "secret" for first name and "pal" for the last one.
I hope you all have as much come from this as I did. It's such a wonderful program! Tami I'm glad you started this.
