I was turned down by Cigna but we didn't change the insurance, his company did and then I was accepted. Guess it was meant to be. Hugs, Debra

I had to do this! I had Kaiser and they had a written exclusion, I had to wait 9 months to change, and I was approved for WLS by my new insurance company in 7 hours!!! I am now waiting on insurance approval for PS (my paper work was just faxed over) and I am more nervous than I was with the WLS! Hang in there, change if you have to, do whatever it takes it is sooooo worth it!! Hazel

Which Ins did you switch to? Dr office suggested Aetna or United Health Care. If I do switch what about pre-exsisting conditions?? That worries me. Ginger

I switched to Definity Health in the Southcare/Beechstreet networks, I had a choice of Kaiser, Aetna, or Definity Health. I was told that in GA it was not considered pre-existing because I did not have a drop in coverage, I went from one insurance co to another, if I had dropped coverage then they could have said it was pre-existing. I changed insurance on Jan. 1, 2003, had my psych eval on Jan. 6th, had my WLS consult on Jan 13, and my surgery on Feb 5th 2003! Hazel

I had United Health Care HMO, it did not cover the surgery. I had to change to United Health Care PPO. Each year we have the option to change, I had to wait for the change before I could continue on. Everything went well after I changed.

I did. The doc I wanted to use, didn't take Aetna, so I waited for company's open enrollment, and changed to BCBS. It was MY choice. BCBS said they covered it, and my doc took BCBS, so no problem.

Ginger I had to switch from BCBS/PPO to BCBS/HMO Blue Choice. My PPO policy had a written exclusion. I had to wait for open enrollment to make the switch and it took effect in July. Dr. Duncan of Atlanta accepts this insurance. I hope this helps you out. Debbie
