I just heard from Dr Champions Insurance Coordinator and just as I feared... As of Sept 1 BCBS PPO does not cover WLS surgery any longer! NOW what do I do? I just want to cry!! Ginger

Aww Ginger... I am so sorry I have BCBS PPO as well. It is through my husband's company. I called them when I read your message, and they said I was still covered. Did you try calling them yourself to confirm? Is your coverage through your employer so you can appeal?

Ok I have just found out... due to the fact that I have an Individual policy it is not covered! What kind of crap is that??? I pay more for my insurance and HAVE less coverage!!! It really sucks!! Sorry to freek you out!! Ginger

OK Incase you all wasnt sure if I was loosing or not... NOW you will know for sure. I just got off the phone with the BCBS. IT seems that the Insurance Comminisenor and themselfs have conflicting information. Insurance Comm told me it was because it was an individual policy... which is not true. BCBS is telling me that they ARE NOT covering any new claims!!! PERIOD!!! She said that If you have prior approval or a package already sent in you will probably get it approved...so not to worrie. If you do not have a package turned in... it will be turned down. They are however looking at adding an underwritter that you buy and pay more MONEY for in the future that will allow the surgery. Hopefully next year she said. NO Date at this point. So I guess all hope is not lost! It still makes me so mad but what can I do but wait!!! I am a very impatient person!!! rrrrrrrrrrrrrr Ginger

That's ****ty! I have an individual bcbsga ppo plan, and that's just crappy! I'm so glad I got in when I did. Nancy at Dr Champions helped me so much with them. I hate them. I want to change insurance, and thank god ga has a right to insurance law.
