Today I called Dr. Scarbourgh's office to see if some of my tests gotten there. The Psy valuation did and Dee said that I need to follow-up with the psy doctor since it recommended me for follow-up and dietician. Now how can they assume I enjoy eating with true and false questions. Has anyone gotten a not so good result from the psy and prevented them from having the surgery? Your response will be greatly appreciated. Mary

Not to be flip, but I think any doctor can LOOK at me and tell I like to eat. Why else are we all here? I think that just goes with the territory. The dietitian is required by most insurance companies now. That may be why that is a recommendation. I have been to the dietitian twice now and it is not a bad experience at all. In addition, I think she helps you eat the right things AFTER the surgery, which is very important. She told me I will come back about 2 weeks before the WLS and she will go over everything with me. My psychologist put in my evaluation that I have low self esteem--duh!! and am compulsive. I was offended by the compulsive thing until I realized that I am a compulsive eater hense the "compulsive". I would not be upset by the evaluation. He may have just seen from something you said that you may need extra support during this time. I know my Psy recommended that I see someone after the surgery because he said it is a very tough time for most people and if you love to eat, it is like losing your best friend. Do you have a good support system? Family and Friends supportive? That could be all it is--he may think you need a more extensive support system. I would take all of it with a grain of salt. I know when it comes to our mental health we can all be a little touchy, but it is probably nothing at all. Take care, Carol

I would not worry. I have been approved for the surgery and my Hmo requires me to continue seeing my Psy after the surgery, this way she can help me with any issues that might come up and provide me someone to talk to. I also have to follow-up with my dietician for 1 year. This will help me continue to follow my doctor's dietary guidelines and provide me guidance and advice on how to eat to live, not live to eat.
