Need advice on how to handle....
Hi! It's me again! I don't post here very often, and not enough I know. But I don't have anything new to add very often. I am having the worst time getting all my info faxed to Emory Bariatrics by my pcp office. I talked to one of the nurses in the office last week and she told me that she was going to get right on it for me and get everything taken care of. That was on Tuesday. Well, on Friday I called Emory Bariatrics and was told that they hadn't received any of my info yet. This really upsets me. I understand that it is a doctor's office and that they have many patients to deal with. That was why I gave her three days. Well, anyway I have an appointment this Friday, so I am gonna see what I can get done then. I am normally a very calm person. But I feel like I am at the end of my rope. Can anyone tell me what I can say to get the point across to these people that this is very important to me and life changing? You would think they would want to see some of their patients that have so many health problems get healthier. I am so down about this. I appreciate anything you can tell me. Thanks!
God Bless You All!!!

Hey Tonya, Tonya here!LOL
I would request that it be done then & there on Friday...and tell them that you will wait. Then get a copy for yourself so that you can refax it in the event Emory is more effective. Stress to them that they are holding up your progress. Hang in there gal. I know it is frustrating. I think it's good that you have an appt this week.
HUgs,

THIS IS A VERY GOOD WORD OF ADVICE DO NOT TRUST THE OFFICE STAFF AT EMORY TO DO ANYTING THEY REALLY STRESSED ME OUT TO THE MAX..AND NEVER DONE WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD BUT THE DOCTORS ARE WONDERFUL DR.RAMASHAW IS A DREAM AND VERY NICE LOOKING TO BOOT...DOA LL THE LEG WORK YOURSELF AND TRY TO DEAL WITH ONLY 1 PERSONA T A TIME IN THAT OFFICE ANN IS WONDERFUL SHE WILL DO YOUR GI AND STUFF,THEY ARE REALLY SLACK TRUST ME BUT THE DOCTORS ARE WORTH IT ALL GET COPIES OF EVERYTHING AND FAX THEM YOURSELF TO YOUR INSURANCE COPMANY THIS IS THE BEST WAY TRUST ME,AND KEEP CLOSE CALLS WITH THEM AND IF THEY ARE NEEDING MORE INFO GET IT YOURSELF AND STAY ON TOP OF EMORY GOOD LUCK MY PROCESS WAS FROM JAN 28 TO SURGERY AUGUST 10 LONG WAIT AND I WAS REALLY ON TOP OF IT IWAS A WOMAN ON A MISSION GOOD LUCK
Tonya,
I too had a hard time at first getting my release letter. At first my PCP refused me. Then after that he took blood did test ect and said your letter will be ready by end of the week... which it was not. I called on MOnday it was not then again on Tuesday it was not. Then I called Wed about 10 times asking for it... LOL They finally got the message and I went and picked it up so that way I have a copy of it incase the Dr office needs it again. It took too much time to get this one to let it get lost on someones desk somewhere! LOL
Good Luck!!! Dont take NO for an answer.

Tonya,
My pcp is wonderful!! He looks like Adam Sandler, such a cutie. But, he is really busy. I just made an appt., and had everything with me. I got what I needed from him, and delivered it to the surgeons office myself. Works much better for everyone that way. And, keep copy of everything!!
Good luck!
Kathy
Hi Tonya,
I personally had the worst time with Emory. I understand that the surgeons are top notch but....I was repeatedly told different things by each staff member, told I needed this that & the other for insurance...then after collecting it all, the final person who submitted my info said it was not necessary...the result after playing their game from November of last year it too****il September 1st for them to turn in my info to insurance...
Guess what - it was no suprise I was denied due to "not medically necessary"...then to add insult to injury was told they (Emory & the surgeon) do not do appeals...if I wanted to pursue it I could send an appeal or my PCP could...they just acted like oh, well, that's what the insurance company said...they did not even want to call the insurance company to find out what the specific reason was. My guess is that they did not turn in all the necessary paperwork...
By the way, my insurance company said that they want to hear from the surgeon/specialist when appealing not my PCP...
So, I changed surgeons...and now after meeting with the new surgeon's office, I'm so glad I did! It was a night and day difference for me. I felt like a person with a face and a name...a real relationship developed...rather than being a number.
I wish you the best of luck with them, I can tell you I was warned about the office staff at Emory, I took my chances and I got burned. I will definately listen up more in the future!!
