Whew, the pounds are gone!
Hello everyone, I lost the 15-20lbs needed (17lbs) to have my surgery rescheduled. It was scheduled for 9/8/04. Now, my surgeon is not scheduled to be back in his office until 9/28/04, so my appointment is 10/01/04............I am praying I won' have to wait until Nov/Dec before the reschedule my surgery. I have been off of work since April (due to downsizing) and although it was what I needed at the time (Had LOUSY Great-West Ins.), I have got to find another job and start working again.....soon. Has anyone changed jobs or received offers for employment right before surgery, If so did you tell your prospective employer about the prospect of having WLS surgery? Is it better to wait?
I am also thinking about temping until I get a new surgery date.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Woo-Hoo! I'm glad you are able to reschedule. I know it was hardwork to get those pounds off but you did it by golly!!!
This is JMHO but maybe it would be best to temp until after surgery. You never know how you will feel post-op and God forbid if you have problems. Most places that I know of make you be on the job for at least 30/90 days in a probation period and Ga. is a right to work state so that means they can let you go for any reason so they may not hold a full time position for you.
Get your surgery first so you'll to be in the best health you can be in to start a new career. A new job for a new you!
Best of luck to you.
Sidney
Thank you, I think it is best I wait also. I went on a job interview and for the first time, I really felt weight was a determining factor.....I have never experienced that before, but the job description was an exact match for my experience and I know and have a proven track record that suggest I rank HIGH in this type of work. But, as with most cases it can never be proven that weight was an issue, besides if they feel that way, it wasn't a positive environment to be in anyway.... I can't wait until 10/1/04, I should have my new surgery date on that day. Thanks again, J.
