Frustrated!!!!!!!
Well I tried to get in as a patient with Dr. Angstadt in Savnnah but he refused to take me because of my variety of co-morbidities. I wished that they had just told me that from the beginning rather than taking my $200 and getting my hopes up. I did not think he was very pleasant at all - he was sort of rude and abrupt. He says that I should probably go to a surgeon who has done more surgeries like Dr. Champion or the US Bariatrics in Ft. Lauderdale. does anyone know anything about either of them and should I even bother - they are saying I am a high cardiac risk because I have a cardiac stent - but my cardiologist has cleared me for the surgery. I am about to just give up and start trying the starvation route. Thanks for listening. Meg
Go to Dr. Champion. He is the best. He knows it all. Believe me---if it can be done---he is your man. Call his office. He will be in Savannah for a support group meeting this Thursday. I'm sure you would be welcome to come hear him. He will not take your money if he can not help you. I don't know the office # in my head--but he has a web site with all the info----JK Champion Marietta Ga---------Hope to see you at the meeting.
I used Dr. Champion and loved him. Dr. Champion has a support group that meets at the Jewish Educational Alliance, Abercorn Street, Savannah on the third Thurday of every month at 6 PM. Personally I wouldn't think of having the surgery in Savannah if I were high risk. The first 200-250 surgeries are where the most mortalities occur and Dr. Angstadt hasn't done many lap surgeries.
Dr. Champion is going to be visiting our group tomorrow night so if you'd like to come to the meeting feel welcome to join us. The group is for Dr. Champion patients or people thinking about having surgery with him.
I will send you an e-mail with my phone # in case you'd like to call me tonight.
Hi Meg, I live in savannah too. I used Dr. Duncan's office in Atlanta. I know it's a drive but it was worth it. I had surgery with him on 3-29-04, and haved had no complications. I did alot of research becasue when I had the surgery noone here did it. There was closer surgeons, but I think he is the best(my personnal opinion). The only thing with Dr. Duncan you always dont get to see him, but I have no regrets with him or his office staff. Just check out and read their qualifications, and go to their seminars and base your decision on that.

Meg,
I agree, Go see Dr. Champion Or Williams they are in the same practice in Marrietta GA, Just North of Atlanta. Dr. Champion is one of the TOP WLS surgeons in the Coountry and we are lucky enough to have him in GA. You can check it all out at drchampion.com. Dr. Angstadt probably did you a favor. If you do have extensive complications you need top be with the best. I would much perfer my DR to tell me he is not the best for me than have him try and fail.
Call Dr. C.
