Dr. Procter/Richards patients...smoking???

Hello Everyone This question is for patients of Dr. Procter/Richards who smoke or use to smoke. I am a smoker who has been trying to quit for good since April 1. Have not always succeeded. I know it is a nasty habit and wish I had never started and now that I have I am having the damndest time trying to quit. I have now been smoke free for 7 full days and am planning to talk to my primary care physician for some stop smoking aids to aid me in quitting for good. How long do you have to be smoke free before surgery? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance for your advice and imput. Spice
