BCBS of GA Lapband "Investigational/Experimental" - Long post sorry!
I've had a few emails that folks have alluded to problems at Emory. To be honest, it makes me feel better to know that there are -- I was beginning to think it was ME that is the problem (this is my 2nd surgeon). Is there ANY lapband surgeons out there that has a decent office staff?!?
Since I work for BellSouth, I'll remain politically quiet on most of your comments beside this: I worked for another large telecommunications company for 14 years before I began at BellSouth in 97. Believe me, we have great benefits compared to a lot of others... especially the one I left.
I have only begun to fight.... heck, I've been fighting since 2003 (I fought Cigna and then BellSouth moved our coverage from them to BCBS). I may end up paying for this myself, but I'm going to try my best to make them pay.
Thanks for your offer of help in fighting Emory. I'm about ready to pack my bags and move to Dalton next.
Also, if you get approved for another type of surgery, don't think that the doctor will switch on the day of surgery to the LAP BAND. This is insurance fraud. Anyway, the operative report that the doctor HAS to file with BCBS GA has to list IN DETAIL all of the pertinent facts related to your surgery so that they can get paid for the claim and protect the doctor from any future malpractice claims against the doctor and medical facility.
Good grief, NO, I'm not wanting to commit fraud. I was asking if it would be easier to get approved FIRST for gastric bypass, then put forth evidence that, since I am diabetic AND have IBS, that the lapband is a better choice.
BTW, my sis-in-law works for BCBS of GA, and I've told her everything I'm doing, she's even talked to some folks there for me. I'd be STUPID to try to defraud BCBS.
I'm going over to lapband board, wherever it is, if anybody is interested in what happens...
