Great News
Congratulations James!! Dr. Duncan is the greatest!! If this is your first consultation, you will sign in, pay your co-pay, and a nurse will take your weight and measurements. Than you'll go into the conference room with several other patients, and one of the doctors (usually Dr. Speights) will discuss the surgery in detail, tell you about the 90 day weight loss program, tell you to stop smoking and using steroids, etc. This same doctor will take you individually to an exam room and take a peek at your tummy, ask you to cough, and show you where your incisions will be. She'll ask if you have any questions or concerns and that is pretty much it. If you have any tests that you have recently had done (bloodwork, pulmonary, upper G.I., etc.) bring a copy of those. Also, if I were you, I'd go ahead and get a medical clearance letter from your PCP. Also, if your insurance requires a referral, make sure Dr. Duncan's office has it before your appointment, it maybe wise to bring a copy anyway, because, although Dr. Duncan is the greatest, his staff tends to misplace things ALOT!! Good Luck and keep us posted!!!
