Am I crazy?
Hey everybody!
Well surgery will be two weeks from today and I've started thinking about a couple of things, and though I don't want to bum anyone out or be depressing, I was wondering if I'm the only one who has thought about writing something down, not really a will, but like what would happen with my kids if anything did happen to go wrong.
I like don't won't to jinx anything and I want to have positive faith that God will see me through this, BUT I have three small children and the though keeps crossing my mind.... Am I crazy?????? I mean I could be driving to work tomorrow and have a car accident so I know I should have provisions for them but I didn't start thinking about this subject until I got my surgery date.
Just wondering if anyine else had gone through this dilema???
Sorry if this wasn't a happy post but ya'll know...
Thanks,
Carrie

Carrie - when you have minor children you should always have a will and how you would like them to be taken care of. If you have someone in mind, try to speak with them about it prior to your surgery too. Everything will go fine but wills are something everyone should have especially with minors. Dee
I believe whole heartedly that you should have a will prepared REGARDLESS of this surgery....ESP. since you have small children. You need it to be stated what will happen in the event something did happen to you.
I recently lost my mother who passed away without a will - and trust me - it's been horrible to straighten out all the details since her passing. A will makes things easier on your loved ones!
I think all of us have thought about it.....but we ALL need to do it.....
(Going through what I'm going through - I'm becoming an advicate for having a will done!)
God bless my friend.....
There are three "wills" you should prepare: Last Will and Testament; Healthcare Power of Attorney and a Living Will. The first outlines your wishes for your estate and the care of your children, the second gives the person you appoint the power to make healthcare choices for you should you become incapacitated by the surgery and the last states exactly what you want done or not done to prolong your life should you become incapacitated.
My hospital required me to have a Living Will before I went into surgery, and it is a good idea. Any attorney's office will have these documents as forms, and you may even be able to download simple forms from the internet.
It is NOT being negative or anything like that... it is being a responsible adult and mother. If you want to write a little personal thing to your family in the event something goes wrong that sometimes brings people peace of mind. But definitely do the wills ... all three... it's just the smart thing to do.
No your are not crazy i'm 56 and having surgery on 8/9/04 and I have written letters for each of my children and my 2 grandchildren. I've put my self in Gods hands so it will be his will if they get the letters now or years later. I always say it better to be ready for anything. God speed and love for you.
