Teresa, hey! I have a friend who has BCBS and they allowed hers! Do you have a copy of the policy? When I started having problems with my ins comp I notified the ins commissioner and started getting help from them! If its medically necessary then you ve got a fighting chance! Dont let them run you away! Let me know if I can help! Kerri

Teresa, Don't give up!!!! I work for Wal-mart also but carry my husbands insur. I can't believe that bc/bs will cover this surgery for some companies but not for others. There is a girl that works at my store that says she wants to have the surgery but that she was also told that it was not covered, but she just took their word for it and never did anything else. You can't give up keep calling, Whatever it Takes needs to be your new MOTTO!!!!!!!!!!!! You know, there is also obesitylaw.com also!!!!! Best wishes, I'll say an extra prayer for you!!!!!!! Carrie

Dont give up, Teresa!! I have BCBS and was approved after the first letter. My surgeon office took care of all of it for me-see if there is someone in your surgical group who can handle it for you. Be Blessed, Shawnna

I have read many post about walmarts insurance will not cover this surgery. and i do mean many. I think they just have the exclution because of the (and i dont want to offend anyone) many, many low paying positions and the fact that if they included this paticular surgery that many people would work for them just for the surgery and therefor pushing up insurance premiums for the employees that are loyal to them.

OK, I'm going to probably say something here that is going to **** someone off, but I really don't care. First of all, WalMart is one of the highest grossing companies in the United States. The owners of WalMart are consistently listed in the top 20 richest people in America. WalMart employees have the highest percentage of employees getting food stamps and welfare assistance of any employer in the United States. So the poor Walmart argument is totally bogus! They pay their employees so little that many of them are included in the working poor and qualify for welfare. Has anyone forgotten the big Walmart bust recently when they were hiring illegal aliens to do their cleanup work around their stores? I guess their owners didn't get to be the multi-billionaires they are by paying an honest wage! Your surgery has to be medically necessary for any insurance company to accept it. Take everything you have showing that it is medically necessary and start bombarding BCBS with your documentation. Send copies to the company. Do NOT relent, and send the same documentation over and over again if you must. Walmart can certainly afford to carry this procedure on their insurance - more so than most of the companies that are now allowing it!!! Stop feeling sorry for Walmart and start getting revved up to stand up for yourself!!!!

Please believe that there is always hope. Some of us have to jump more hurdles or fight harder and longer but as long as you want to fight then keep going. You are worth it. Contact GA Dept of Insurance and anyone else you can find (maybe your PCP or Surgeon can offer additional people to contact). May you be blessed with whatever you need. Hugs and prayers, Theresa
