I HAVE A QUESTION????????????

I WAS TOLD THAT THESE DAYS THE SURGEONS WHO DO THE OPEN RNY DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THE ACTUAL INCISION AS LONG AS THEY USE TO. DO ANYONE KNOW THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF THE INCISION ARE?

Mine is about 2 1/2 inches long.

Mine is about 2.5 inches long - but then again Kerry and I used the same Doctor!!! I've heard (and seen from past paitents) that the scar will shrink some and fade quite a lot so even with the scar I have it will fade after a bit of time. It will never disappear - but I don't know that I really want it to go completely away. Good luck!!!

Every surgeon is different. Dr. Burrowes is about the only one I know that makes the incision that small. I had mine done on May 27th and it's 9 inches long. The scar is really not as bad as I thought and has healed nicely. Amy www.amylhwilliams.com

Natalie, hello. My surgery was done on 3-15-04 and my incision is exactly 9 inches long from top to bottom. I have only one and then I had a small one for the drain. Otherwise thats it! I was not stapled. They used the derma bond glue and I didnt have any problems! The size of the incison I think varies with surgeons and your size. So it s best to be told by your surgeon apx how long it will be! Hope this helps! Kerri
