Anyone out there that went to the 2-11 seminar still waiting to have surgery? Have you been apporved? Have you had all of your tests? Which Dr. do you have? Anyone with BCBSGA PPO? Just curious.

Hi, please disregard if this is a duplicate...my fingers slipped and hit the enter key! I'm a patient of Dr. Daniel Smith's at the Emory Clinic and I went to their seminar on 1/22/04.... I just had my first consultation with Dr. Smith this week on 6/10/04. I knew when I chose Dr. Smith that I would be waiting a little longer to see him because he's the head of the Emory Bariatric's center and he's a very popular surgeon because of his reputation. When I met with him on 6/10, I had all the bloodtests, paperwork, nutritionists visit and phychiatric visit completed. The only thing we are waiting on for them to turn my info in to BCBSGA HMO is the letter from the phychiatrist (I saw him this week too). That should be ready next week...then I keep my fingers crossed for insurance approval!!!!!!! After insurance approval, I'll need to have a stress test, endoscopy (sp)...I asked Dr. Smith what time frame he thought we were looking at and said in the neighborhood of 2 months....he said his surgeries are scheduled about 1 month out for openings...and other than that it's just how long the insurance company takes to approve so that I can have my tests done. Wow, hearing dates of any kind is kinda weird...it's starting to sink in after all this time that it's really happening!! I just can't wait...my only complaint is that his coordinator wasn't very friendly the day I met her...I'm hoping she was just having a bad day...it would be very out of tune because the rest of the staff seemed to be very caring & friendly...I'm sure she was just having a rough day!:^) So, please write back and tell me about you...your dates, tests, insurance approval?
