Okay, this process went really fast and Dr. Duncan asked that I lose 20 LBS. Well my stuff has not been submitted to the INS. Yet but it will be in the next 2 maybe 3 weeks. I gotta wait for the blood work from my thyroid stuff and I don't go do that until Monday but I have only lost 2 pounds. I'm worried that after I get approved when ever that happens? they will make me wait because I've only lost 2 to 5 pounds. So anybody got any good diets, what's wrong with me I know how to lose weight, I'm just worried. I've lost over 80 LBS before I just can't seem to get with it.

Hello Monique, I am also a patient of Dr. Duncan's. I am in the same situation and I know I need to getting ready for the WLS process. I need to start making better choices and start an exercise plan. Perhaps we can encourage each other. Plus I am sure we can use all of the encouragement we can get from others. I would love to hear your story of your WLS process up to this point. Sheila

Monique, Maybe I can give you a few helpful suggestions. Drink a lot of water, walk as much as you can stand it, and cut out the sodas, sugar, and snacking. I started making lifestyle changes 4 months prior to surgery so I wouldn't be overwhelmed with the changes afterwards. I lost 10 pounds prior to surgery by having the determination that I was going to make WLS work for me. Then after surgery, I've had absolutely no regrets due to building my expectations of what it'd be like sooner. It will be hard especially without the snacking and chocolates (!) but you'll thank yourself later for setting your mind to it. I also find that it helps to keep myself busy. Good luck! Karel

Hi I had surgery with Dr. Duncan on march 29,2004. I went to weigh****chers after i tried everything I lost 9 lbs in two weeks. When i went for my pre-op they did not say anything to me about only losing 9 pds. But I did, walking, akins, finally after going up and down in weight like normal. I went to weigh****chers try that. I think it's the best.

Monique, I did not lose the 20 pounds, and Dr. Duncan's team did not make me wait. I was SOOOO relieved. Just do your best, and don't stress! Blessings! Becky

Hi Monique, I have to lose at least 5 to 10 pounds also to shrink the liver before surgery. I posted this question on the main board and so many members advised me to try Atkins. 5 to 6 different people got good results with it. I have not try it yet, I have been denied and my mind is kind of occupied right now with the insurance company, but I think it's worth a try. Also try and drink 64oz of water and walk 2 to 3 times weekly. I have been walking but not eating right and since, I started back walking I have not lose anything but I not gained anything either. Try to cut out sodas, sugar, and cut back on carbs. These are some of the tips that I received. I hope this help. Good Luck Shondra
