I've switched my ins plan in hopes of getting approvel for WLS. Has any gotten approval, specifically in the Savannah area, with this ins?

I heard that some Blue Cross of Ga. plans exclude wls. If you want the surgery now is the time to do it. Memorial Hospital in Savannah has a bariatric center that is great. I know a lady from Rincon tha has BCBS and she had a hard time getting approved but they got it approved for her. The director if the Bariatric Center named Cheryl will go overboard to get approval for you. If there is a way to get approved they will find it. I had my wls in May in Atlanta and had a hard time getting approval for my son. I had to do all the insurance work. If you do want wls now is the time - because insurances are getting more and more difficult. I am very happy I had my wls I am 4 weeks out and down about 32 lbs. Also, I heard from a friend that in the State of Georgia it may be a law that if it is medically necessary the insurance company cannot refuse you. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected].

I'm not in the Savannah area, but if this plan is with the state it should be a covered benefit if it's medically nessesary. I didn't have a problem getting approval, my husband works for the state. Amy
