I went to Walmart the other day and I found a new drink that is wonderful!! It is made by Hawaiian Tropic and has 0 carbs, 0 calories, 0 sodium. A great replacement for plain water!! I found two flavors; Pineapple Pink Grapefruit and Mango Guava Passion. Yumm Yumm! Paradise in a bottle!

What kind of sweetener does it use? Is it aspartame or Splenda? I hope it's Splenda...I'm dying for a good drink that actually tastes right! Kelle

ohh... I just checked the bottle and it is Aspartame. Can you educate me on the difference between the two?

Well chemically I'm not 100% sure, I know Splenda is made from sugar, they just process it a different way, the molecules are broken down differently. But the big difference to me is in the taste, aspartame leaves a really horrible taste in my mouth...it's what is used in Nutrasweet and Sweet and Low I believe. Also aspartame makes my stomach hurt when I drink more than just a little bit of it. So far Splenda hasn't done that to me. So, I keep on searching! Kelle

Hi! Something new I recently learned as well is that Aspartame causes our body to retain fat that passes through. Splenda tricks our body into ignoring the fat. In other words, whatever you eat after drinking will be affected but whatever sweetener you drank. Sooo if you drink Splenda you'll retain less (or no) fat than other sweeteners. Make sense? I'm learning something new every day!! Karel P.S. - and yes, if you're in the medical field and feel the need to correct me, please do!

Thanks Karel! I read years back that Aspartame caused headaches in some people, but I had no problems with it in the HA department. I will do some research on the fat retaining and let you know what I find out. I have been really impressed with Splenda and hopefully one day everything sugar free will be sweetened with it. It seems to me that with all the controversy about Aspartame that most companies that use it would convert to Splenda... hmmm
