ONE WEEK POST-OP ADVICE FOR HUNGER

Yes, I'm one of the unlucky ones who has come out of this surgery able to tolerate everything and that has led to hunger. Sipping water all day is great for healing, but it leaves my stomach dying for something else. My surgeon's post-op diet requires 32 ounces of skim milk a day and I found real milk gave me too much gas, so I switched to soy milk (Silk brand). That stuff really seems to calm my new stomach and relieve the 'OMG I'M STARVING TO DEATH" feelings I had immediately post-op. Clear liquids go through your pouch really fast and don't fill it up, just leave you hydrated. But the soy milk is thicker and really coats the stomach and helps with hunger. It is also higher in protein and a good source of protein for healing. Good luck all you hungry post-ops!!!
