I had to add my two cents
Yesterday, my hubby and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. We were in the checkout line, when two other women was in front of us talking. One of them picked up a magazine and on the front of the magazine was an article about weight loss surgery. One replied, that surgery is for fat lazy a$$ people, then the other replied surgeons should have their license pulled for performing this kind of stuff on the puff and stuff. That did it. I kindly put my two cents in. I told both of them that I had the surgery and I'm not lazy nor am I a puff and stuff. It saved my life. I told them they need to research the situation before commenting on it. They did say that I didn't look like I needed the surgery, How in the hell did you know? This is your first time ever lying eyes on me. My hubby had to escort me out the store, cause I was about to get really ugly with those two.

They did not know who they were offending! You go girl! I'm so sick of judgemental people. What do they care about people having surgery if it doesn't affect them? Ohhhh that just burns me up.
I'd of ended up in a fight, cause I would have had to say something like, well ya know, looks like your hairdresser and nail tech needs to have their license revoked cause they should have never let you out of the store looking like that! You don't own a mirror do you? grrrrrrrrrr

Mrs. Jackson,
I was recently offended by one of my fellow support group members, she declared "that she STILL didn't think I was BIG enough for the surgery" It hurt my feelings! It hurt my feeling b/c I haven't really told many of my co-workers or friends after one of them expressed their shock and disappointment that I would do something like "THAT" I rely on my fellow WLS brothers and sisters for suport. So it hurt me. I expressed it and received lots of encourement from others and I realized then that there are lots of mental midgets in this world. There are lots of people that think they know what is best for you and everyone else. Whether it be a family member, friend, or stranger in the grocery store. Lots of people's opinion of WLS is that of the old "stomach stapling" procedure of 20 yrs ago. I had an Aunt die from "stomach stapling" back in 1980. When my friend told me she was having Gastric Bypass....guess what? I thought the same thing..."Oh no! Not stomach stapling!" Until I educated myself on it and here I am 3 yrs later awaiting approval.
All of us have had preconcieved notions at one point in our life. We are all human. And guess what? Opinions are like butt-holes.....every body has one!! So don't let these folks get you down!! You just stick with your hubby and the folks on this site....we are here for you! Pick your battles......this women probably wasn't worth it.

You go girl ! I would have had to put my 2cents worth in too. I have lots of health problms and haft ride in the carts or my scooter I get all kind of remarks like if she is to lazy to walk she should have stayed at home and such other coments I just tell them how about changing your health with me for one day because that's all i would want to wish on any one else.
