GOT A DATE WITH DR. BURROWS!

Hi everyone, I have a date JUlY 5! I have a couple of ????'s DO you have to attend the support group meetings at Atl. med. with doc. burrows or can you go to other ones....IF so does anyone know of any on the south side of Atlanta, I am in Henry county. THANKS!

Hey stacie thats great , congrats ,, Dr .Burrowes is my surgeon too , and i know that you and i got approved through insurance at the same time , Monica was suppose to give me my surgery date this past friday , but i called her twice and she said she hasn't spoke to Burrowes yet ,, My question to u Stacie is did Monica tell u friday ,, and if so could you have gotten a sooner surgery date ?? and how was july 5th picked for you . There is a support group in sharpsburg which is near newnan , but i'm not sure when there next meeting is ,, i have emailed someone about it but have heard no reply . Good luck Travis

HEY travis! I remeber you. I CALLED monica. I found out last thurs. that I was approved by calleing the ins. comp. then Katherine at burrows office said they could not schd. untill they had the letter. Well the letter got to them on like tues. but Monica said after I called her again that she does not schd. anyone on wend and thurs due to working with the pat.s those days. SO, I called her on Friday morn. She had to find my chart and call me back...this took like all day. She ask me if I was going to make all my pre op appt.s or did I want them to. I said them, because they know more about what they are doing. SO she called be back about and hour later and had set it up on 2 diffrent days. WELL, I have a pre-excit. clause that is up JUNE 12th and she said if I had the test done before that date that I had to sign something saying that I would pay for the test if they didn't pay....So we had to bump me back a week. I go for testing at atl med on the 14 and 17. 4 test the first day and 3 the other day..So that is why my date is so late. They have to wait on my results and 2 support group meetings. I also go for pre op at his office on the 24... I am sure that you can get a sooner date. They first were talking the last 2 weeks in June. I am kindof bummed about the date, but It will be worth it. Have you been to any support group meetings yet? If not I guess I will meet you at one of those!! I see ,thanks for the info ,, I found out i was approved on may the 11th , when i called BCBS , and they said they had mailed all the stuff back to Burrowes , I then called Monica that same day(5-11-04) and said i was approved and she said she couldn't do anything til she had the paper work in her hand , but she said if i knew that i was approved i could start the pre op testing , So then i called my pcp and scheduled all my tests .(i have an ekg to do monday the 24th and i will have all the tests done BARIUM and all),,,, anyway i called Monica on the morning of the 19th which was 8 days since BCBS had sent my approval and she still hadn't got it . She then called me back real late wed the 19th and told me she had it , and asked me what type of surgery i was having and when i thought i might want the surgery , I told her as close to june 6th as possible but not before ,, She said call back friday the 21st for a date so i did and she couldn't give me one and never called me back . I will be calling first thing monday for a date , i hope i have it like the 7th or 8th , With my work i am REALLY busy in August and Sept, and i would love to be recovering well by then . I know with Dr. Burrowes' surgeries you are required to attend 2 meetings. Make sure you have the card form the first and get it signed for the second. If you need to get intouch with Joys *Pronounced Joyce* (Their support group director) call Dr B's office and ask for it. I had to go to two meetings in one month - so I went to the one at Atlanta Medical Center - and there was one in Conyers I went to. Good luck!

congrats 2 u. 1st thing is that dr burrowes is my doc too. 2nd, there are no meetings close to henry county as i have checked (i live in henry county also, locust grove to be exact). i went to the meeting the 1st of may at atlanta med center and i am going to the one 1st sat of june ( i think that is 2 weeks from today). I met a girl (becky) close to where i live and we rode together. That was her 2nd visit visit and she said she would go to the next one so i didnt have to go alone.
