i had a stress test done today because of some twinges and shortness of breath has been worse than normal. Well, the test itself was stressful on my nerves. To be honest im scared. If it comes back that something is wrong can this interfere with WLS. Heart disease runs in my family, as does high blood pressure and diabetes. Well i have high blood pressure and diabetes and with all this weight i am a prime candidate for heart disease. I never knew a persons blood pressure could go so high. After i quit walking, after only 2.48 minutes and sat down, they immediatly started taking my blood pressure. Well the 1st time mine was 255/150. That scared me bad. It went back to 140/100 witch is where it was when i arrived and yes i know thats high too. I had taken my blood pressure meds before I went. And you can guess this was my first time doing this. I was supposed to get the results this afternoon but dr wont be coming in so i have to wait till morning. Have Echo-cardiagram in the morning also. Anyone with advice about this test and blood pressure being that high after would be appreciated. EKG looked fine. Also at this time I am having a mild *****ly, burning sensation in the middle, high part of my chest.

Hey Kelly, girl I feel for you. I don't know what I would do if they wanted me to do a stress test. I know my readings would be similar to yours. I've had high blood pressure for years and am on medication. I know it's "controlled" and when they take my readings at the doctor's office they're usually okay, but boy let me do any sort of strenuous physical activity and I feel like my head is about to explode, like in the old days before I got medication and the veins in my head would just throb! I smoked for years, knowing I had HBP. I just quit recently in preparation for surgery and I think that has helped a bit, but the last few days I've had a bad problem with my right leg swelling like it used to before my BP was under control. On Wednesday I thought the skin on my ankle was going to split open it was so tight. The only thing I can think of is I ate some beef jerky Wed and Thurs and I didn't realize it at the time, but it has a really high sodium content. So I understand what you mean about your body going wonky all of a sudden....mine's doing interesting things as well. I'm keeping you in my thoughts...please try not to overthink things until you hear from the doctor. It could just be a normal reaction to someone obese to physical activity. Like I said, they'd probably have to put me on a gurney if I had to do a stress test! Let us know what you find out! Kelle
