Has anyone had any problem with bluecross/bluesheild and pre-existing conditions? I had spoken to a dr about losing weight before going on bluecross and they say that might be a pre-existing? o.k., who hasn't talked to their dr about weight?

I dont think pre-existing matters when your trying to get approved for wls. Actually its helps if you have pre-existing conditions.....or co-morbids mine was high blood pressure and high chlorestorel (sp) and joint problems. umm wait are you trying to get insurance???and if so through your company or on your own? I had to wait 3 months before I was covered by insurance since i had just started with the company. Since i had the problems above i wanted to be covered just in case something happens. When i spoke to a bcbs rep and she found out the problems listed above she stated it would be a monthly fee around $300.00. Needless to say i wanted until i was covered with my job! Katrina

Margie, hello! I had a friend who had BCBS she was not required to do a weight loss program prior to her surgery! They approved her after her first letter. As far as the pre existing periods been there done that! I had to fight with my ins comp for almost a year and then due to my PE period being over they paid for it! How long have you had your ins? If its been over a year you should be ok! Back about the the diet program its usually for a 6wk period but it changes with all ins comp! I m a nurse and learned all the goodies with the ins comp! Hope this helps! Take care and God Bless! Kerri
