I work as a school driver in ga and have uhc and they will not pay for me to have the surgey. so l need to change it . was told that bcbs will pay but don't know. plesae help. Think you Sarah

I have BCBS of GA and I work for my county BOC. I was approved. MAY 11 is my day! Call your insurance representative at your office. That's how I found out. Good Luck

I work as a bus driver for a ga county and have bcbs. i called them before choosing them to make sure they would pay and they said it has to be medically necessary. my consult is with dr. burrowes on may 21st

The current word of mouth is that BCBS of GA will stop covering WLS after January 1st, 2005. So, unless you're all cleared of hurdles and ready to go now...you might want to go with a different provider! Kelle

As far as I know BCBS is only going to stop paying for surgery in the state of Flordia. Sarah make sure to get BCBS HMO and not CCO in the open enrollment. I will call you tomorrow. I see you called me today and I missed the call. I was napping! LOL I will call you soon. Amy

If you look back at the older posts on this message board from around the 25th, 28th, 29th of March, there seems to be a lot of conjecture going on right now about BCBS of GA stopping coverage of WLS. According to Dr. Champion's office they are going to cease as of 1-1-2005. Better to be safe than sorry.... Kelle
