I just a councsutaion with my surgeon and I need to make the choice wether to get the Fobie pouch (extra 4,000) or regular by pass surgery (coverd 100% by insurance) The doctor sugeest that the Fobie is more agressive and long term than the open by pass procedure. Please tell me what you think!
HI SHARITA,
I HAD THE FOBI BACK IN DECEMBER AND IT HAS WORKED OUT GREAT FOR ME. IN MY OPINION THE FOBI IS BETTER SUITED FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE A LARGE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT TO LOSE. I MYSELF HAVE 240LBS. TO LOSE TO GET TO GOAL WEIGHT AND HAVE ALREADY LOST A 103LBS. SINCE DECEMBER. AS WITH THE REGULAR RNY THERE ARE RISK WITH THE FOBI. I HAVE READ SOME REPORTS THAT SAY THERE IS A CHANCE OF EROSION OF THE SILASTIC RING WHICH IS PLACED AROUND THE POUCH, BUT I'VE ALSO READ THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO EVERYONE AND WHEN IT DOES IT CAN BE CORRECTED. FOR ME THE BENEFITS HAVE FAR OUTWEIGHED THE POSSIBLE RISKS, BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND AND BE AT PEACE WITH YOUR DECISION. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WEIGHTLOSS SURGERY.
