Consult with Dr. Duncan
I have my consult with Dr. Duncan on Thursday. I was just wondering if there was anything I needed to bring or have with me at this consult. I know I need to fill out paperwork, but I want to get everything done in one shot. So, if you have had your consult, please tell me what to expect Thanks so much!! Smooches,
Chandra
Hey Chandra,
Congrats to you!! I had my consult on 30 Mar. Just last week.
The consult was a breeze!
Don't forget to bring your co-pay in cash- they don't take checks.
Of course your ID and Insurance card.
You will fill out forms that are similar to the forms in the initial package you submitted. If you have a copy of that package it may be easier to refer to.
Other than that there was nothing else required.
I wish you well!

Maybe I can help with a time frame on that. I went to the seminar on rougly 11/22/03, had my consultation on 1/17/04, was approved for insurance on 3/22/04, got my surgery date on 4/02/04, and my surgery will be on 4/27/04.
I think that I may have a sooner surgery date than other patients because I am a male patient. Not to be sexist but Dr. Duncan has far fewer male patients than female patients and he apparently only operates on patients of the same sex at once. So, that means the list for female patients would logically be longer than that for men.
Hope that helps to muddy the water a little for you
Very interesting Joe. I didn't know that they only operate on patients of the same sex on the same day. Wonder why that is? I do know that Dr Duncan mentioned an interest in helping more men.
Ok this is an other subject. Why do we all(meaning Dr. Duncan's patients) refer to our selves as "Dr Duncan's" patients when his other associates do most of the surgery? I know Dr Duncan attaches the small bowel to the stomach but as for all the other steps another Dr actually does that.
I wonder why we only mention Dr. Duncan and not the other's by name?Anyone ever think about this?
Just curious.

PS-Just for the record...I LOVE me some Dr. Duncan so this question comes with no hate attached
Chandra,
Not sure when I will get a date. Right now I am busy getting the second stage stuff done. I have an appt with my PCP for a medical clearance letter on Thurs. and I am working on the 90 day weight loss program that he requires. After I get my PCP letter to them, along with my failed diet history they can sent my package off to the insurance company. I am hoping sometime in Jul-Aug time frame. I don't know if that is realistic or not.
Good Luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I guess I need to add that I am a former patient of Dr. Robinson, so I have been approved and my approval will transfer to Dr. Duncan. Since my original surgery was cancelled the day before my operation, I have already done my pre-op testing and all those evaluations, etc. Although, Dr. Duncan and Associates may want me to do more recent pre-ops. I am hoping that since I already have approval, medical clearance, and pre-op testing, I might be able to get a date sooner than most. Again, thanks for the responses, everyone is always so helpful!!!
