Yes, they will stop coverage in 2005. It's time for everyone to take a stand and contact their state senators and representatives. There is power in numbers and we must be powerful enough to persuade them not to drop WLS coverage. If you need help locating your senator or representative, email me and I will help you.

Vince can you reveal your source? If not was it a supervisor of BCBS? I keep hearing this and I am trying to confirm if it is a fact. If it is that is bad news. Thanks Debbie

Hello Vince, I live in Georgia however I have BC BS of Florida . A PPO plan. I received a letter recently stating as of 01/01/05 BC BS of FL will no longer cover gastric by-pass surgery. This is so sad. I do hope there is something that can be done about this. I can understand the insurance companies wanting to regulate this surgery, preventing fly by night surgeons from taking week end courses and claiming to be certified in this surgery. Let's go get'em!
