Can someone explain a letter of medical of clearance versus a letter of medical necessity? I think I am going to use Emory in Atlanta.

The letter of medical neccessity is the letter your primary dr gives you listing your comorbidities and that the surgery is neccessary. The letter of medical clearance is the letter your primary dr gives you when you have completed pre op testing {slepp apnea, abg/pft, chest xray, ekg, stress test, & psych evaluation to name a few} and has reviewed the test results and says you are medically cleared to have surgery. Both letters are very important, I was denied on the first submission due to the letter of medical clearance not being submitted. Marie, post op Dr Hart, 12/02/03 -52 lbs
