I am on cloud nine! I had my initial consultation last week and I have already scheduled my thyroid panel for next tuesday, have completed my psych evaluation, and on 2/3/03 I will have my consultation with my dietician. Then I will be through with all my insurance authorization requirements!!!!! I am very fortunate that I was able to schedule my needed tests so quickly, but you will be amazed what a little bit of southern charm will do . Joe

Hi Joe, Did you have your psych evaluation in Gainesville on the 21st? I think I was in the office the same day as you. (I may just be crazy , if so, please forgive me.) It's great you are moving along so quickly. It is taking me for ever to get into my PCP. I think I go on the 6th. That doesn't even count getting my tests set up. Good luck!! **** Linda, you hang in there. You will find TONS of support on this site . It has helped me just reading it from time to time.... -Tami

Thanks Tami, I honestly do get that alot, from tons of people. Apparently there are like 20 guys out there in this world that look exactly like me and have the same personality. All of my friends in college said I reminded them of someone back home Joe

Hey Tracy, It's really very simple. They ask you questions about your weight history, why do you overeat? Do you eat when you are happy/sad? Do you use food as a comfort item? Usually the psychologists will try to determine what is at the root of your weight problem and to make sure that once you loose all this weight, new demons won't come a' callin... so to speak. I have heard that some psychologists will issue a MMPI test. This is a sort of personality test that they often use to see if you have any tendencies to depression, agressive behavior, etc. This is not usually the case, but it may be for you. Hope this helps! Great info Joe! Thanks a bunch. How long did your evaluation take? I go to the dietician on Feb 24th. My appt was suppose to be on Feb 3rd also, but I had to change it. Let us know how that goes also.

My evaluation took a full hour. The hour was used by the psychologist mostly to get some background info about me. There was alot of focus on my family, but I attribute that to my young age (22). If you are a female, a lot of questions will revolve around your married life, i.e. how your husband treats you, are you abused? I know this only because the psychologist and I got into a discussion about that, pretty interesting stuff. They will ask if your weight problems started after you got married, after you had kids, or if this is because of any trauma in you life. Hope this helps!! Joe

Did you do yours by one of the docs Dr Duncan recommends?

No I did not. It would have been the first week in March before they had any openings for appointments (and that was 2 weeks ago.) They also said it would be in the neighborhood of $300. So I decided to go elsewhere. Please feel free to read my profile and I have it explained pretty well. Joe
