I Have my Surgery Date but have not lost the Pre-Op Weight
I have not lost any weight since my visit to Doc 11/20. I was approved recently for the surgery the date is 01/21/04. I'm afraid Doc Duncan (Peachtree Bariatrics) will decline me for surgery. I'm really afraid to weight myself cause I think I may have gained from anxiety. Does anyone know how Doc Duncan does things?
My first initial visit with Dr. Khatain at Emory was September 15th. I have gained 12 lbs as of Dec. 10th. I actually gained more during the insurance period, but have lost about 8 lbs since being approved. I was wondering the samething. If I don't lose the other 12 lbs will they not operate on me.

Maybe if you change the focus from it being required by the the Doc to it might save your life during surgery maybe you'll have more luck.
Do you know why they ask us to lose weight before surgery? It's not to torture us. It's because Dr. Duncan needs to move your huge fatty liver out of the way in order to have a clear field in order to cut, staple, sew and just totally rearrange all your plumbing. If he can't move your live he can't do the surgery. If it's blocking his field something might get nicked or damaged and complications may occur.
When you lose weight you lose it first from the liver that's why the Doc wants you to lose weight before surgery. He wasn't you to have as successful a surgery and recovery as possible.
We've got enough potential problems going into this kind of MAJOR surgery without adding to them.
You deserve the best chance at a full and quick recovery. Do it for YOU!
