Unfortunate News
We had an OH member and fellow patient to pass away recently. Ralohna Nesby was a beautiful 37 year old wife and mother of twin 14 y.o. girls. She was a hair stylist and lived in Carrollton, GA.
Ralohna had RNY in July 2008 with Dr. Clarence Hixson. By mid to late 2009 she was unable to ingest food and had a balloon procedure to stretch her pouch/stoma. The procedure didn't work, so in January 2010 she had surgery to repair her pouch and stoma. Shortly thereafter, in March 2010, she had a tummy tuck to remove excess skin. Her weight loss had been very successful, and she lost 247 pounds in less than two years.
She was again hospitalized in August 2010 suffering a collapsed lung. She passed away on November 14, 2010. This is so unfortunate for her and her family. She was only able to enjoy her life for such a short time after losing 247 pounds. If you'd like to read her obituary, you can do so here:

Ralohna and I graduated from high school together, but had lost touch over the years. Please pray for her family, especially her young girls.

Starting size: 18W-20; Present size: 0 or 2; 5'5-1/2" tall.
Current BMI 20.4 as of 2/13/2013 (normal for the first time in my life).
Goal weight reached on 8/12/2010; As of 1/13/2013, 21 pounds below goal
Maybe someone can clear this up for us. May make a difference in someone choosing a particular surgeon.
Any Dr. Hixon patients out there?

Dr. Duncan's practice is Peachtree Bariatrics. Dr. Hobson and Dr. Jean-Pierre work with him. The website also indicates that a fellow named Dr. Karleena (sp?) Tuggle is with them too.
I believe both practices are on different floors in the same building.
