photos and friends

I am just getting on the site.  Looking for friends.  I am having my surgery on 10-26-10.  I also am having problems uploading photos.  It keeps telling me my files are too big. They are in jpg format.  Help!!!  How can I fix this?  I will update the about me this weekend.  Looking for friends and advice.

I have no advice about pictures.  Most of mine are on my blog.  It adjusts them automatically.
