I'm so confused. I've been looking everywhere & called to get a list of Bariatric surgeons that take WellCare & have had no response. My doctor has been trying me on different meds to help me loose weight. Anything from Phentermine & even Ritalin. I have lost weight & my diabetes is doing better. I would really like to get the Gastric Bypass so I can be healthier for myself & my son. Does anyone know surgeons who accept WellCare & what the criteria is in order for WellCare to pay for it?  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You might want to start with Titus Duncan, M.D. of Peachtree Bariatrics.  I know that they do accept medicaid.

Good luck.

Dr. Ahad Khan accepts wellcare I just went to his office yesterday and starting this journey myself here is his site  http://www.bariatricsmd.com/MeetourDoctors.aspx
Wellcare requires 6 month diet a psych eval. and a nutritional eval and that's it. If you decide to go with this doc go ahead and do your psych and nutritional evals you can set these up yourself and start your 6 month diet now with your PCP. Hope this helps!

I know that Peachtree Bariatrics does not take Wellcare, although they do accept Peachstate and Amerigroup.
