New to Columbus- need a surgeon for follow ups?

Hey ya'll, I  moved to Columbus from FL about a month ago and need a new surgeon for follow ups. I don't have a PCP yet, either. I know I need to get labs drawn for my 6 month follow up.  I am going down to FL for my 6 month follow up, but will need someone locally in case any emergencies arise. I don't mind having two 6 month follow ups with two different docs, as that's no concern to me. I had a stricture before, so I want to be able to see someone here in case something does occur.
Anyone know of any WLS surgeons here? Any good PCPs?
I would really prefer someone who isn't an a-hole and listens to their patients. I'm in the medical field and really hate being talked "down" to, I research a lot and ask for help from my WLS peeps because I know we have to be our own advocates.

Welcome to GA board.   It's hard to find someone to take you on if you have your surgery out of state. I have heard Dr. Scott Steinburg will take on a post op as well as Dr. Larry Hobson. They are both in Atlanta.

Other than them, I would look at your insurance company website for a bariatric surgeon. If there are not any in Columbus, maybe a gastro specialist or a pcp can work with your wls surgeon to coordinate care.

Good luck, and will you please update us if you find someone who will care for you. This question has been posted a few times recently from others looking for a new wls after moving to GA.

Thanks for the welcome! It's been a bit of an adjustment, but I have to realize Atlanta isn't THAT far from here, and I should be able to find everything I need there.

I think I may have found one locally, but I have to make an appointment to see him early next week. I will definitely post his information once I meet him and get an impression of him.
If he won't do my follow up care, I'll probably just have to find a good PCP that is willing to work with me regarding my blood work (I would prefer it every 6 months) and coordinate with my FL surgeon. But again, that worries me if I need another scope or have some kind of hernia or emergency.
It is kind of a PITA that so many surgeons aren't willing to see other surgeons' patients post-op.

I am obviously a newbie at this because I am SHOCKED to hear that its common for one surgeon to not see previous bariatric patients! What kind of double standard is THAT? Honestly? I am appalled to hear that. This isn't something to make light of. Would a cariologist turn away somebody who has had open heart surgery elsewhere? NO! Would a Neurosurgeon turn away somebody who has had nurosurgery before? BLAHHHH Fooey on them!
